A Fairy and Puck

I will tell you a story of a fairy

She was very beautiful and so graceful

But she danced at midnight

In the full moonlight

She danced all night she danced all day

Till the stars had gone away

She danced until the sun turned red

She danced and never went to bed

She danced away the days and years

She danced out her laughter

She danced out her tears

She danced so long she forgot her name

Until the day he came

The Old Ones they called him Puck

If you've never seen him you're in luck

The Prince of Mischief was his name

And playing tricks was his game

He heard a song play on the breeze

He wandered here and there through the trees

And what was she doing as he drew near

But shedding her last tear

He saw the moonlit tears on her face

He saw all the years she had dance in this place

And for one time in all of his history that I've known

Sympathy was what Puck had shone

He danced with her all day and night

Till the stars were once more bright

They danced till the sun shone bright again

He danced away her end

He danced back the days and years

His dance gave her laughter

His dance gave her tears

They danced till she could remember her name

The curse had made her heart lame

He danced with her till time stopped

Till the moonlight turned to morning dew

He danced with her till the curse was stopped

Till her spirit was made new

His dance gave her beauty

His dance gave her grace

His dance took away the years from her face

The fairy, with joy, to her children shall yield

How a friendship was made in a cursed field

Where the moon shone full at midnight fair

And only the leaves danced safe through the air

Did you like my story of a fairy

Did you see she was beautiful and so graceful

If you see, remember to never dance

At midnight in the full moonlight
